GameStop’s CEO thinks Canada has too much diversity, equity, and inclusion.
39 year old Ryan Cohen from Montreal, Canada, has been the CEO of the company since 2023 while he has also held the position of executive chairman since 2021.

Recently, Cohen took to his X account and wrote an impromptu business listing, and asked if any possible investors were interested in buying GameStop Canada.
“Email M&[email protected] if you’re interested in buying GameStop Canada or Micromania France,” Cohen wrote.
He then listed all the likely reasons he was looking to get out of the market:
“High taxes, Liberalism, Socialism, Progressivism, Wokeness and DEI included at no additional cost if you buy today!”
It should come as no secret that Canada, especially Quebec is a hotbed for diversity, equity, and inclusion. The province is not only home to Ubisoft, but also an Electronic Arts studio and Warner Bros. Games which created the disaster Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which lost about $200 million for its studio.
GameStop’s business has suffered in Canada, with insolvencies having increased by 28.6% in the country in 2024. Overall insolvencies have reached 15-year high In Canada, according to Juno News, which is a 12% increase from 2023.
