In spite of being the biggest failure not only in Sony’s history but arguably in the GaaS (Games as a Service) space as a whole, Concord’s early server shutdown—just two weeks after its official launch—has still left some fans disappointed.
A Reddit user named danoka29 created a thread about “Real”, a fan who is trying to revive the game through server emulation, he/she also claims that most of the menu systems are working—customization, playlists, squad building, the job board—but matchmaking and gameplay aren’t working yet.
Concord is a DEI-focused game that failed primarily because of its character design. A game that was supposed to profit from cosmetic items but featured poorly received, DEI-infused characters struggled to attract players’ attention.
Despite my personal opinion on Concord, I do believe it should be preserved. In fact, I think every single game deserves preservation. I’m glad that these fans will be able to play the game they enjoyed once again.
