'Nonbinary' Black Ops 6 Actress Calls Fans 'Transphobic'

The actress who played a nonbinary character in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 recently lashed out at fans for making fun of her character's appearance.
Kimber London, a woman who says she is nonbinary and 'gender fluid,' played Volta Rossi in Black Ops 6.
Volta Rossi is the only character in the game that has they/them pronouns in their description, and is referred to as "they/them" in captions.
In an interview with USA Today, Rossi said that she remembered people calling her character ugly when leaks from the game made their way online.
"People were saying how ugly it is and all these very transphobic and homophobic remarks about the character and how 'woke' the game was," London complained.
She then said that while she anticipated there would be backlash for having a "nonbinary" character in Call of Duty, she "wasn't prepared" for how much of a negative response it would receive.
London said that she took particular issue with how much people insulted her character's looks and compared it to other fictional characters, both in cartoons and live-action movies.
'...the ableism going on, you know?'
"So there were comparisons of the character looking like Quasimodo or Sloth from 'Goonies' or some of those disabled characters," she said.
She explained that while she thought those are "wonderful characters," she still didn't like the analogies.
"These are wonderful characters, but the visual comparisons, obviously they're not the most physically beautiful according to our standards of beauty. So that was, that was a little rough."
Furthermore, London complained that the comments fans were making were "ableist," because she considers Quasimodo and Sloth to be disabled.
"That was another thing that really bothered me – the ableism going on, you know? Quasimodo has a heart of gold."
